This is a photograph of the "Miracle on Ice." A USA team composed of amateur and collegiate players beat the long-dominant and heavily favored Soviet Union during the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY. The team went on to win the gold medal, beating Finland 4-2. Team USA was seeded seventh in the competition and was not expected to compete. They proved everyone wrong and pulled one of the biggest upsets ever.
